Welcome to Revolutionary Times!

Revolutionary Times is a very special event brought to you by an extraordinary group of volunteers dedicated to sharing and keeping history alive.

As you walk through the British and American camps, visit our sutlers (merchants), attend the special memorial ceremony before each Reenactment, take a moment to remember the sacrifice and commitment that our American and British heroes displayed so long ago. That sacrifice and commitment resulted in the freedom and independence we value so much today.

September 11, 1777, was one of the most important days in our young country’s history. The Continental Army lost “the ground” that day, but retreated in an orderly fashion and reformed to fight again. They counterattacked the British at Germantown and went on to survive the winter at Valley Forge. After much personal sacrifice and strict training from Von Steuben, the armies emerged in the spring well trained and ready to continue the fight for independence.

The Associates is a non-profit group that works with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to bring history alive. The Associates sponsor programs like Revolutionary Times, Candlelight Christmas, Summer History Camp and education programs that serve thousands of school children and tour groups each year. The funds that we raise from today’s event are critical to the development of our education programs.

I invite you to take the next step, Join the Associates! We would love to have you as a member of our organization-plus you get free admission to Revolutionary Times! We’re always looking for volunteers for events like this or to contribute whatever time they have available.

A special thanks to our Corporate Sponsors, who have been among the first to donate to this special anniversary celebration !!!

Thank you for visiting our web site, I look forward to seeing you in September as we honor our American heroes - past and present.
